Ayisakro is about 200 kilometers from Axim the capital of Nzema East Municipality. The community for several years has struggled to have a befitting classroom for the kindergarten which in the past has operated in individual homes and churches. The member of parliament for Evalue Gwira, Catherine Ablema Afeku as part of her infrastructural and capacity building project embarked on the construction of a two unite classroom block day care center for Ayisakro community from her portion of the GETFUND.
The Chief of Ayisakro Nana Kofi Asilijoe expressed much appreciation for the quick response by the MP and promised to maintain it. Speaking at the commissioning of the Kindergarten the Nzemaa East Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Marian Quansah said the GES appreciates every effort towards ensuring quality education for the youth. She said poor performance of basic education and untrained teachers in Nzema East is very alarming hence the need for parents and corporate community to be concerned and support teachers as well as government effort.
The Member of Parliament for Evalue Gwira, Catherene Ablema Afeku in an interview said she spent ten thousand Ghana Cedis from her GETFUND on the project. Honourable Afeku however assured provisions of furniture for the classrooms and outlined other ongoing projects.
Madam Afeku together with the Municipal Director of Education later inspected progress of work on the construction of another two classroom block kindergarten at Awukyere from the remaining GETFUND. Residents expressed joy at the project since it is the first school to be built in the community but appealed to government to consider connecting the town with electricity since electric poles have been rected for years.
